Update on COVID Fundraising

Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to this campaign so far! We are all grateful for your help in supporting Paoyhan in this time of crisis.

There continue to be new developments, now with several confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Paoyhan, and many many others with symptoms who have not been tested. The first disbursement of funds was used to purchase food and medical supplies in Pucallpa for sick families in Paoyhan. This is now a 9-10 hour journey, as most river transport has halted (see photo of Humberto Rojas, the president of the Living Pharmacy committee, preparing to transport supplies).

This week, the Living Pharmacy committee, together with Paoyhan's authorities and the nurses at the clinic, are meeting to discuss their needs and priorities for the remaining funds. They are drawing up a budget and timeline that will determine how the funds will be disbursed and distributed to have the most impact over the longest time period - especially since we do not know how long the quarantine will last.

A message from the treasurer:

"Thank you for this support. The village of Paoyhan is grateful for everything you are doing, because the situation is difficult here. Now Paoyhan needs the support of all the foreigners that know and understand the situation that we are facing."

Ichabires irake. We will continue to keep you posted.
